Diversity

you know something? Today in one of my classes we were talking about diversity. You know, the difference between different cultures and races. There is actually a lot of differences. It made me think about something. It would seem, that we as Americans are inconsiderate of other cultures. We always make other cultures adopt to our ways and learn to be like us. Using that stupid phrase, "You're in America Now". I mean really? What the heck is that all about? If you're in America you have to speak English? And how we want to get suspicious when they use their native tounges. That's just plan stupid to me. It's like were asking them to forget about their culture because they are in America now. How mean is that? It's almost as if Americans are like spoiled little brats who want everything done their way or else they'll throw a fit. It's just inhumane if you ask me. Of course nobody's asking me, but I thought I'd just throw that out there. I think Americans need to learn about other cultures, that way they'll know how not to offend someone. Americans come off as we "A" holes, we do stuff without regards for other cultures. I really think we need to change how we approach people of different cultures than us. Stop being so freaking judgemental, and stereotypical. It offends people when you speak in certain ways or claim them to be a type of ethnicity that they in reality are not. Like calling a Panamanian a Mexican, is really offensive. And don't just assume because someone can barely speak english that their unitelligent, that's just stupid. I'm just sayin, we as Americans have to get off of our high horses and actually try to be more considerate of other cultures and ethnicities. sorry about my ranting, but I thought I just had to get that out of my system. Just think about what I said will ya?
